White smoke, what causes it?

What causes white smoke in a 351. Carb,fuel pump, (machanical),rings, or what?

White smoke is water. Does your exhaust smell sweet? If it does, then it is anti-freeze. The pull your oil dipstick, if it looks like a milkshake you blew a head gasket. Also open up the radiator (when the engine is cool) and see if there is oil it the water, if oil is in the water then you have a blown head gasket. If you have neither, check your intake manifold bolts by ensuring that they are torqued to the correct specification. Make sure to use the proper tightening sequence.

If the white smoke is only on cold mornings until the engine heats up, this is normal. That would be from condensation in the exhaust. As long as it goes away.

White smoke is from burning coolant in the combustion. It's from a blown head gasket, leaking intake gasket, or a cracked head or block.

Yes, I left out the cracked head and block hoping for a best case scenario, I should have put it in.

white smoke is also cuased by the transmission module.
