The connection sparks because the heater doesn't have an on-off switch and when you plug it it the electricity starts flowing immediately to the heater. It also tells you that it is working!

Ditto. Spark means connection. I listen for about 5 seconds as well to make sure I can hear the coolant start to bubble at the heater, that way I know for sure it's all good.

You sure that is what these heaters pull for amps. A standard house outlet is only rated for a max of 15 amps.
