I recently replaced my code "S" front springs with code "X" springs (4000 pound to 6000 pound). My certification label on the door post shows 4000 pound front gawr. Now, my front gawr should read 5200 pounds (maximum the front axle can handle--even though the springs are rated at 6000 pounds) , and my spring code should be "XA" instead of "SA". Does anyone know if FORD will print up a new label with updated info for a situation like this ???
I don't think they would reprint the label. Those springs are only found on certian production vehicles and the factory will not build a truck out of spec. If your truck could not be ordered with those particular springs then FORD says the truck isn't covered by their seal of approval.
If I remember right you could only get those springs on V10 crew cabs and non-Crew cab diesels.

Hi,
The code "X" springs were part of the "snowplow" package, and were available as a regular production option.
That is an interesting question. I guess only Ford would be able to answer if they will print a new label or not. This will be the first I have heard of it, if they do. I did hear once of a guy who bought a new F350 Dually PSD and had the dealer change to 4.30 axle ratio from 3.73's and either Ford or the dealer re-classified the truck's GCWR from 20,000 lbs to something like 23,000 lbs. Wish I knew more details than that, but the info I did get was directly from the guy who owned the truck, not from a friend of a friend who knew somebody who's dog knew their dog kind of thing...
While they are a regular production item, they were limited in the truck cofiguration. If you wanted a diesel crew cab you could not get the X springs. I may be wrong about this but it has something to do with the overall front axle weight load. FORD did not intend for the crew cabs to plow using a diesel.
It goes along with the rear gear ratios, you can't get 4.10s in a SRW truck('99-'04 models).
the label is factory issued when assembled to identify original equipment, and i believe includes the vin. modifications to the vehicle are not factory authorized or recommended. by supplying anyone a modified or altered decal would probably help the auto thieves, and those trying to decieve. might possibly give ford lawsuits. definately ford wont issue another one.

Did you mean 4:10's with a diesel? Cause my 03 5.4 has 4:10's and the X-springs.
