400 Engine Project-Update

I am sorry that we have not had anything new on the web site lately. Beginning of December has been bussy for us and my FTP program is giving me problems.

Heads are bolted on and Friday the 17 we received the camshaft from Comp Cam. The tech guy that I normally deal with took the input everybody gave on a thread we had on FTE, and what we wanted to end up with. He gave us a custom grind very similar to the custom that is listed on our web site. I think I originally got it from Bill Beyers' list of cams.

We have a set of pedestal roller rocker arms, and checked our valve geometery, push-rod length and working on degreeing the cam.

Hopefully it will be bolted on the dyno before the end of the week. Sorry I have pics, but no way of uploading them yet.

We did get a second page started on the web site dealing with the cylinder heads.

To answer your question, the rockers are by Angus Racing. I have been very impressed with their rockers. Very few companies with the pedestal type rocker arms in a roller.

which of the Angus rollers are you going to use? The pedestal 1.6,1.72 or the adjustable pedestal 1.6,1.72

If you're happy with them, I'll use them on my truck and save me the hassle and extra money of finding a good shop to machine the heads for the studs.

TIA

They did not have an adjustable pedestal for the cleveland style heads. They do have them for the 5.0 style of pedestal.

I think they will be fine for a street application when spring pressures are not that high.

Nice looking engine. I am going to be ordering some of your pistons for my motor, as soon as my machine guy tells me what size I need.

Ford also has pedestal and stud mount roller rockers. Scorpion also offers both. Some Australian companies also make them. The Scorpions are rated for 800# springs but I don't know how long they would last under that pressure. I doubt you would be looking at 50K miles...

I've considered the Scorpions, and I did think about the Ford Rockers. The Angus was still the best price.

Can you imangine a #800 spring and a 5/16" bolt??? The rocker might take it, but I doubt the bolt will.
