Hi I have a 1997 Ford Expidiction Eddie Bauer and had the batt go completly dead whil I was on vacation. Turns out I had left the radar detector On and had left the cell phone in the charging mode. After starting the car whith a emergency batt pack that I keep one in all my cars. The aribag light started to flash writing the codes down it was a 52 code. flashed it out three times. How can I reset it???. I found nothing in the owners manuel and I tried pulling circuiit breaker (fuse) and then reistalling it that did not work. I next tried disconnecting the batt. neg terminal and that did not work either. What if any thing can I do??? P.S. this year and model Ford has had too many recalls and service notices. Thanks for all your help out there Bluesky56
thanks the back up power supply is just an emergency hand carry quick start unit it is not part of the car. How do I reset the airbag to get the light to go out. I need to find out how to reset the code 52??? thanks again bluesky56
It is possible that you may have a blown fuse. Check all fuses. Or Generally a short or faulty circuit in the air bag system will cause the internal fuse (Not replaceable) in the diagnostic monitor to open. The Diag Monitor will have to be replaced after the fault is repaired to stop the light from flashing. If it is an intermittant concern you may not find the fault and you can replace the monitor and the light will stop flashing, but you take the chance of having to replace it again at a later time. Kinda pricey. I would advise taking it to the dealer and let them ck it out. One wrong move and BOOM air bag in your face.
Thanks for the responce the only c/b that I could find for the Airbags is the one 10 amp in the fuse center under the hood in the engine conpartment. Is there any otherones I might have missed if so were can I find them??? thanks again
Not talking about YOUR backup power supply/jump-start tool. The airbag has it's own backup power supply. Until the airbag's power supply is recharged (or replaced??), you can not clear the code 52.
#22 fuse in fuse box under dash. Behind removable cover lower left side of dash above hood and brake release handles. Then remove black cover over fuses. #2 fuse in fuse box under hood. More than likely though the internal fuse (thermal limiter) is blown in the diagnostic monitor. Did you accidentally hook up the jumper battery backwards temporarily. That could have blown the internal fuse.
