friction modifier or not?

Hello,
To try and remedy my limited slip issues I am going to change the rear diff fliud this weekend.
On some other posts I have been told not to add the "friction Modifier" and the clutches will grab better. Is this true?
I always thought without the modifier the limited slip will not work at all hence the name "Friction Modifier"
So what do I do? Add the modifier or not?
Thanks all.
