I am hooking up tailights/blinkers/brake lights in my truck. There were wires going back to the back but only the tail lights and blinker are working. I tried to bypass the post by the master but that didnt work either. I am waiting on my wiring diagram but would like to keep working until it gets here. Does anyone know off hand the routing of the brake lights.
the problems with the brake lights got me wondering what some of you guys thought about replacing the wiring(dash) in my 65. The existing wiring is OK, not horrible but not in the best of condition. I do not like electrical work but if replacing it all now saves me time in the long run.... For the most part there are not any exposed wires, but many have electrical tape and it seems that some are being tied into more than intended. Any help would be a great help.
Also is there a source online that sells a kit that would fit my needs or would revamping my existing harness be the best bet.
I had the same kind of mess when I got my 64.If I remember right I think the brake light goes through the turnsignal switch some how.You might check your brake switch, mine was bad.Your wiring is good back to your lights or you wouldn't have the turn signal and tail lights.I don't know if the 65s are the same as the 64s but,you might check the connections on the steering collum. As for the rest of the mess wait for the wiring diagram,it will help alot to sort the mess.
Replaced harnesses in my 65 thru Mr. Mustang. Unfortunately can not find the dash harness. Believe they make the harness for ford trucks 64 thru 68, have their price list that range from $100 to $30 depending upon harness The harnesses have same connectors and color codes. Direct hookup. If you decide to go with after market kits suggest run a search on topic, issue has come up on occasion. There is also an article in 'Classic Trucks' magazine on rewiring early model truck. Sometimes can go to their web site and read article.
