i have a 69 f100 with a 351m-400 engine i put a new master brake cylinder and brake line on today and when i started the truck for it to warm up for a drive about 30 seconds into the warm up i saw the soilnoid beside the battery start smoking and the truck cut-off bye it self i tryed to start it again and it would not start so i got a new soilnoid for it steal nothing i saw a relay beside the battery replaced it also steal nothing i'm lost on this one. (also guy at the parts store said it did not have a fuseable link) (true or untrue)
USE a test light or volt metter, you didn't say if the engine cranks over ?? and will not start. See if you have voltage to solenold (S)term. this wire comes from your key switch. It's only hot when you turn the key to start. This is why you need a test light easier to see. If no voltage check key switch. Check voltage hot wire from alternator. fords did have a fuseable link close to solenold and batt. box. I cooked my solenold & starter when starter wire shorted at wire loom close to the key switch as, I was driving down the freeway at 55 mph. wow, I thought the tranny was going to blow up but come to find out that was when the starter engaged and ran for about 2minuts until the solenold burned out..good luck

no the engine does nothing but look at me like i'm stupid
i have power to the solenoid and power to all have the truck but when i try to start it nothing no clicking no nothing
Did you try bypassing the key switch. How is it done( a short jumper wire form BATT HOT to the (S) term on solenoid and this will crank the engine over, you don't have to remove any wires. You may have a bad key switch. You can start it if you just turn on the key to ON, then go jump the solenoid and it will crankup and run. Just to test solenoid leave key OFF and it will just crank over If everythink is good....Note you just touch the wire( Do not attach it) Use your old rochclips on the wire ends ... my 2cent
