Parking/Emergency Brake ???

Parking/Emergency Brake ???

Hello All!

On my 87 f350 custom 4x2, manual trans. the parking/emergency brake pedal will not lock when engaged, whats up with that? it's working like a clutch pedal????. how can I, fix this problem?

on most parking/emergency brakes the pedal, or handle has teeth that catch on a gear type thing and lock the brake from going back up, check the teeth, maybe as simple as oiling, or greasing the teeth that engage the gear. Have the same problem with my 88 rangers e-brake.

thanks for that info, now what if the teeth are worn, would I have to replace the whole lever, or could I just replace the gear?
