Squealing when cold...
I have a '97 3.0 L Ranger, 2WD automatic, 25K miles. Recently, something has been squealing (quite loudly) when I start the car. It continues to squeal off and on until the truck warms up. It has only been doing this since it's been cold (30's and 40's). The squealing appears to be coming from the front of the truck. I changed the belt, but it did not help. Can you give me some things to check?

its nothing to worry about. i have a 89 ranger 4x4 5 speed. its just the fan belt. when its cold out it doesnt grip the pullys as well and when ur rpm's kick up it looses grip and makes the noise. try putting a little belt dressing on it or tighning up ur tension pully. that might work for a while.

Squealing when cold...
There is a sensor/device on my 4.0L that fouls up and causes a loud noise. Like a fog horn. Dealer recognized it as a problem as soon as I pulled into the shop. I don't remember what it is called. I will reply again with a picture and description.
