Can anyone tell me where they hid the switch on a 78 with a c6 in it. I have looked at the end of the steering shaft and down on the trans case. Did i miss it? Did they put it in the steering wheel ? It is getting alittle loose. Need to rebiuld it too. The other thing i dont have is backup lights, Is that part of the neutral safety too? Thaks , Erv
The neutral safety switch and the back up light switch are in the same unit. The unit is curved sorta like a half moon and it will have 4 wires coming out of it. Sometimes it is mounted at the bottom of the steering column, other times on the side of the tranny, and other times on the console shifter.
You might look at wires. They come out of the firewall right behind the motor and drop right down onto the tranny and run to the switch. I believe the wires are long enough that, they can burn on the exhaust pipe if you have twice pipes.
Thanks guys I found it. You were right it is on the side of the trans. They sure can hide stuff from you,HA! I have not worked on a car or truck for about 20 years. I am kind of enjoying this. Sure am glad I found this site tho. Now if it were a little warmer out, I would put it on tonight. I use to like winter a lot more awhile back. Thanks again, Erv
