I was reading on another post that thier is a fuel filter next to the "tank selector vavle"??Where is this filter located exactly?? How do I change it? any special tools reqired? What do I ask for at the parts counter?
My truck is a 86 EFI 302 F150 ext cab long bed 1wd any other "Hidden" filters?
Thanks
Dustin
It cost me a lot of trouble and over $500 before I found out (with the help of the FTE'ers) that the second filter was the problem (my truck kept bogging out when I'd get on the gas).
It is in the canister for the tank selector valve. The bottom of the canister unscrews (careful, it's plastic and kind of tough to get too). I think the filter cost $8. It is recommended to remove the filter for good, but I had a new one put in for the time being. Parts stores should know what it is.
Its on the frame rail just behind the tank selector valve on the left side. If you replaced the canister filter which is way forward of this one, just follow the fuel lines back toward the tanks. I used a strap wrench to unscrew mine.
