I am trying to decided on which kind of ranger to get?
1.Ford Ranger Splash 4x4
2.Ford Ranger Edge 4x4
3.Ford Ranger 4x4(xl,xlt? which is better?)
I will use the truck for the following:
1.Coonhunting:I will need it to carry a dog box and up to two dogs.I will have to put up with everything from deep snow to deep sawmpy like mud.
2.Work: I work on a farm that i will have to deal with mud and ice and stuff.
3.Hunting: I hunt on 300 acres of farm that has everything from deep creeks to deep(deep!) mud..
I will put a 6 or 8 inch lift on, but which truck is best from what I listed? also can I get Bucket seats and have the middle seat take out? can I get 4x4 on the floor?
in my opinion i'd go with an earlier ranger, say mid to late 80's. but also from what you've listed i'd look into getting a fullsize truck just because of the size lift you want. a fullsize would probly handle that much lift better.that's just my two cents worth.

First off, if you are interested in a 6-8" lift, what size tires are you wanting to put on? With the newer Rangers, they have Independant Front Suspension. This works great for on road use, but when you lift the vehicle, it puts extra strain on the front drivetrain. The front axle is not truly solid. Imagine the middle section of an axle, with CV joints on each end that flex. These connect to the front hubs. This makes your axle three separate pieces. When you lift this and put larger tires on it you are eventually going to shred it to pieces.
My opinion? Get an F-250 SD. Solid front axle, lift kits are at least half the price, and you've got more room. I would even get one of these over an F-150 because an F-150 also has IFS. Unless you are going for MPG, this is truly the way to go.
