Unhappy 04 power stroke. cold idle...

i have a remote starter installed in my truck and when i start it in the morning, my truck seems to idle a lilltle higher than normal. when i step on the brake or gas pedal the idle drops back down. if i let it idle a little while, it'll go back up. this seems to stop once ive been driving around a little and the engine warms up. is this normal?

This is normal. I can't explain all the technical details but it is to help with engine warm-up.
As a aside, can anybody tell me why the 6.0 only idle up to 900rpm and the old 7.3 went up to 1200 or more when going through this cycle?

Welcome to both you New guys !!!!!!!!!!

Your're right, normal after a few minutes of idle for it to pick up the pace - just for warming...

Many theories out there why... but it just does it !

And the 7.3 and 6-oh are MUCH different in a lot of respects... maybe the 6.0 doesn't HAVE to idle up as much as the 7.3 did - actually not something I'd ever noticed on the 02 7.3 I had...
