A c6 with an overdrive?
I am looking for someone who really knows there stuff about transmissions. I was at my local pick and pull the other day and found a 84 (I think) f-150 with a 5.0 and an automatic. I was looking at the transmission because on the dash the selector said overdrive and I thought that was funny. So I looked under it and it looked like a c6 but not. I dont know it just didn't look the same and I asked someone local and they said for a couple years they made a vacuume shift version of the e4od but it wasnt an e4od (anyone following?) well anyway just wanted to know some facts about it if anyone knows anything. thanks

Yeah, AOD. They weren't too bad of a tranny for a 302, but a diesel would eat one for breakfast (if you could bolt it on). They were a non-electronic 4 speed. And if you rebuilt one they needed a few updates to live. The one I remember was using FMX clutch plates in one of the drums to tighten up the clearance.
