Brake Upgrade?

Brake Upgrade?
I am thinking about upgrading my brakes. I am tired of my current ones, always having probles - shuddering, excessive wear, smelling the brakes when I shouldn't, ect. I am thinking about drilled rotors and those ceramic pads. Had anyone done this yet? How big of a job is it and what special tools will I need? I haven't done a brake job yet so any advice, insight, suggestions about methods and products would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
Oh yeah, its a 2000 F150 4X4 supercab with the 5.4 engine.

What diameter rotors do you have? You can gain more by working on the front. Lightnings probably have better brakes. I'm looking for bigger rear brakes for my 98 Mountaineer(18" wheels). LOL,
