Good Evening
Looking for a Christmas gift for my son's 2004 Harley Davidson 4X4 6.0L. I am looking at the Eclipse DVD with Navigation the model is AVN 2454. Does anyone have any experience with them or any ideas how good they are? I was looking at Pioneer but heard this was better? What do you think?
Thanks
Pam
I just went to Eclipse's site to check that unit out, looks like a great unit. I have the Pioneer AVIC-N1 and LOVE it. It's been great from day one. There wasn't anything on the market that even compared to it for the price ($2000 retail, I purchased brand new off Ebay for $1300) but it looks like this one is going for about the same price. Another thing was security, the AVIC-N1 has a detachable face (with retractable screen), looks like this unit doesn't as the screen is stationary. One thing I found when looking on the web was this, might want to take it into consideration or question it if you do purchase:
"As many of you know I've been battling stereo system noise after my install recently. Since my local stereo shop does not share my sense of urgency to fix the problem I called Eclipse Tech-line to ask them about the HU being the source of the noise. They basically told me it was a known problem and a fix is available. Send in your current AVN2454 and they will either reprogram your HU or send you a new one with the current software upgrades. First call the techline though so they can record the info and refer you to the appropriate contacts."
Eclipse has always made great head units (from what I've heard) but personally I've never had any experience with them. I've been a hardcore Pioneer fan for the last 10+ years. Hope this helps!
