Fuel Pump runs Continuosly
Fuel pump on my 91 ranger, 3 litter v-6 runs continuously, even after the motor is off. Some times it quits after a few hours, sometimes it runs all night. I thought it might be because it is getting weaker and it will not shut off becuse it is not getting up to pressure? I would apriatiate anyone thoughts and Ideas on how to troubleshoot and repair.

I believe some of the rangers had a problem with the wires being crushed and crimped causing problems such as yours and causing fuel pumps to burn up. Check the TSB's and you should find it for your truck

If i remember this right the relay for the fuel pump is located on the right fender well next to or under a power distribution box. If the pump is stuck and running just thump it to shut it off and then replace it.

I thumped the power distribution box once, with my bare hand and the pump shut off. Tomorrow i will look for a new relay switch. Never in my life have i recived such good advice, you have saved me a lot of trouble and expense.
