as someone else said, you have to look at the truck. you say it is 4x4 right? that will lower the MPG. Also, what tires do you have on it. I have seen a ton of guys come on these boards and say "my MPG is bad, what can I do" and they are running 33" tires or something. Also, is your truck a reg. cab, super, or crew? Makes a big diff in weight. Also, being a 350 you probably have the 4.10 gears, another big diff.
I have a 99 250 supercab 2WD Auto. w/ 3.73 rear end and i get about 20mpg at 70mph. and about 17 in the city.
these truck vary a lot in milage, because there are a lot of variables in the trucks.
I agree with legends13. I have a 250, LB, CC with topper, 4WD and 33" tires. I am in Wyoming and we have hills and wind constantly. I drive it like I stole it. Winter fuel is not as good and my idle time is increased now and I get 13-14 so I feel pretty good since I used to get 9-10 with my 460 gasser.
mech2161 is so right. I have a 99sd and my dad has a 98 E350 cube van (as well as a 2001 sd!) Our has gone down hill since winter fuel has started. I run stanadyne in every tank. I'm sure it would be worse if i didn't. Also as others have stated keep your foot out of it. Mines a real pig if i horse it alot!! Happy ho ho to all!!
I'm not all up on the terms. I have an F350 4door, PSD, with 4x4. Long bed. Auto tranny. Not sure about the rear end but suspect its 4.10. I have regular tires. I don't have a use for big fat ones. In fact I prefer skinny tires for off road even.
Anyway I was looking at what I got when I got it off the dealers lot used vs what I get now average wise it seems like its a few mpg lower.
Thanks for all the input!
Jeff
Thats why I'd asked. If I could manage more around 16 or so i'd be happier. But in reality a few mpg over the course of a year isn't gonna break me. Just like seeing the calculator say 16 vs 13.
