Haunted Radio

I have a 99 Expedition XLT with the 6 cd changer in the armrest. Lately, the radio starts changing stations and functions on it's own. It'll start to scan different channels or change to AM or sometimes even start playing the cd all on it's own. Anyone else ever have this happen and if so, what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated as my wife is driving me nuts to fix it. Thanks.

I thought I had the same problem once. It turned out to be a joker in the back seat messing with the controls on the console.

I'm not saying this is what your problem is, but I had almost the exact same things happen to me about 2 weeks before the alternator bought the farm on my '01 Eddie Bauer.

(That was one year ago, and since the new Alt., it hasn't happened again, FWIW)

Just in case the rear controls are somehow creating this issue, turn on the radio and press station preset buttons "3" and "5" at the same time, once. This will disengage the rear controls from the system. Reevaluate. Pressing the buttons again will re-engage.
