I have a 1995 F150 XLT. I'm pretty sure these head rest things are the same on all of the seats that have adjustable head rests. I am wondering now to replace the two black plastic deals that the head rest slides into. Has any one done this before, or have an idea how this works?
I would like to know also, The rattling was driving me nuts so one day at a stop light
I pulled the pasanger headrest out and found both plastic guides were broken.
I took them off put the headrest back in, it still rattled so I pulled it out again
and bent the metal rods toward each other to make the fit tighter. This stopped the rattle but I would like to have it back to original so I can adjust the height.
I can't believe no one has any comments related to removing or replacing these headrest parts. I really wish I knew how to do this. I really don't want to have upholstrey issues after this. Does some one at least know what holds them in? By looking at in from the top of the seat with the headrest out, I can't really tell much of anything. Any input is welcomed.
I haven't taken abart the ones in my truck, but the ones I took out of an escort gt were much like the plug for drywall screws, they had these little tabs that stuck out and locked them in place when you set them in. I tore the seat getting the old ones out, (so I'm no expert) but I used a little superglue to repair the tiny rip. I ordered new plastic tubes from the dealer.. the poped right in, they were 15 or 16 $$ apeice. I checked the truck and they look very simular, but since I am not having any problems I am not going to take them out.
