Idle/Mixture

I have a simple question. What should I set my Idle and Mixtures to? And how di I know when I've got them there (ex: How many turns of the screw...1/2...). Thanks.

Far to little information. I can give advice on 2.9 EFI settings, but if you have a carb you will need to find someone else.

The vehicle repair guides at www.autozone.com (electronic version of Chiltons DIY) have a procedure in the tune-up section.

Not familiar with this motor. What does it have for a carb? Don't know if you have 1 screw or 2 but, it don't matter. Here's an easy way to do it and it will even pass emissions if required. Start by turning the screw(s) in completley then back out 2 1/2 turns. Start engine and let it stabilize. Make sure RPM is close to spec. Make sure timing is correct... O.K...now turn screw(s) in 1/8 turn at a time, allowing about 30 sec's for idle to stabilize after each turn. You will reach a point where the idle will drop and even get a little rough. Stop at this point. Now turn the screw(s) back out 1/4 turn and leave them there. If you notice any problem like backfiring on decel after this, turn them out 1 more eighth turn.

As far as I know the computer, yes I said computer, controls the mixture. About the only thing you can set on that carb is the idle

I have a Model 2150 2-V Carburetor. It has two mixture adjusting screws on the front near the bottom. The one is hard to get at but I think I can manage. Thanks for all the help.

though I could be wrong about the mixture. See I took off the 2150 and put on a 1978 2100 from a 302. That was fuuuuun

I have the Ford Shop Manual and it doesn't say anywhere in there what the mixture should be set to.

If you mean RPM, I would go with 650 for manual trans, 750 for auto.

Help with idle

I have that same 85 Bronco II and the same carb. Does anyone have a procedure to set the idle. The carb has an idle speed control on it. I just changed the throttle position sensor and the idle will not return to normal after letting off the gas. It does after a period of time. Anyone know how to set the idle on this unit?? I know there has to be a procedure to get the idle speed control motor in the correct position to control.
