When I did ask her once, the only "reasoning" if you can even call it that was that I wouldn't wear them. Well, I can't very well wear them if I don't have them. I am working on trying to get some for Christmas!!
No jeans??!!! I just can't imagine it, sorry. I'm like Taz up there, I have good and not-so-good ones. I also own two pairs of dress slacks that I've never worn.
Ranger, if you have a job go buy a pair, be warned though, there are no sizing standards anymore and you may have trouble finding a pair that fits well. I can buy 4 to 5 pairs of the same size jeans and have 2 that are either too big or too small. Regardless of brand.
Well, it doesn't make sense that the parents can wear jeans & you not, but then again you are under their roof, so you have to follow their rules. It's still a "do as I say, not as I do" rule. Good luck.
I never wear anything but jeans unless I am going to something formal. I did however attend a funeral in jeans about a month ago and was the only one sporting blues (we live in a rural area where jeans are acceptable church clothes- as well as I just got into to town from being on the road and didn't have anything clean). That is about the ony time I felt bad about wearing jeans. As long as jeans are clean and not ripped up they are acceptable in most everyday cases.
I wear jean shorts all the time in the warm days and jeans whenever it gets cold, whenever I work I have to wear khaki's, dress code there, but yeah, I can't stand not wearing the blue jeans, only blue though
Well I wear jeans exculsively when I am not working. In Alaska they are considered "formal wear" if they don't have holes in the knees!
But as far as your situation goes, try to find out why exactly your mother feels this way and then if she remains steadfast, respect her decision. Remember she is your mother and if she has a valid reason (valid in her eyes, not yours)then you must do as she says.
My parents had a "no jeans" rule up until I was about 10 or so. Not so much a rule, rather my parents were trying to save some money since I was going to a private school, and already had "school pants."
When I finally got a pair of jeans around 10 or so, the pair I got was too big, so I had to wait until I could fit into them. But ever since then, I've always had jeans.
all i own and wear is jeans, every day of the year. i never have to go to formal events so i dont even own dress clothes. just my wrangler cowboy cut slim fit jeans, tshirts and a few plaid long sleeve shirts.
I'm with most of the other guys here. I have my "good" jeans and my "everyday" jeans. The only dress slacks I own are with my "Weddings and Funerals" suit.
