Hey Everyone, I'm looking into purchasing my first diesel truck. A 2003-2005 F250/350 with the 6.0 PSD. Since I'm new to the diesel engine, I was wondering if there any special preperations or precautions with running a diesel in a Wisconsin winter.
Actually any discussion regarding owning a diesel would be good, since I've been a gas engine person my whole life.
My current truck is a 2003 Ram Hemi. I've owned a couple Ford trucks in the past ('80 F150, '86 Bronco, '90 Bronco), but the F250 is the toughest looking and probably my favorite for interior room of them all.
Welcome to FTE Jeff. All your diesel questions can be answered in that forum. As far as a diesel in Wisconsin, a fuel treatment during the real cold weeks might be a good idea. Plugging them in, in subzero weather will allow a easier start along with a quicker warm up. I too am on my first diesel in a pickup even though I've been driving tractor trailer for 25+ years.
