Ranger SHO???????????
I have a 94 ranger with a 3.0L V-6. I was wondering if a ford taurus SHO engine would bolt up. Does anyone know what size these SHO engines are? and what HP rating? I heard they were pretty powerful engines. thanks

Sounds like an awesome idea, i'm a fan of the SHO myself, although i've never owned one, the old SHO v-6 put out about 230 i belive, the new 3.4 v-8 is rougly the same size as a big v-6 it puts out only a few more horses, but's got quicker throttle response. goto www.shoshop.com they've got some good links.

I think it would be pretty hard considering that the taurus motors are mounted sideways and because they're front wheel drive the tranny is kind of bolted right to the motor. But I could be wrong. You'd probably have better luck with a 5.0 swap as many people have done this. You could take one right out of an explorer and it would probably bolt up pretty easily.

THE OLD SHO WAS A 3.2L V6, 220HP-IT MIGHT WORK BUT IT'S NOT VERY COST EFFECTIVE. FOR SIMILAR COMPARISON THE MUSTANG AND WINDSTAR USE THE SAME 3.8L V6, JUST DIFFERENT HEADS AND HARDWARE FOR THERE SPECIFIC CONFIGURATIONS. 5.0L V8 BEST BANG FOR THE BUCKS. GOOD LUCK WHICHEVER YOU CHOOSE!!!
