I'm using a Flaming river column in my 56. All I did was bend a piece 1/4 inch rod and threaded one end for a small heim (spelling) joint (for the trans lever) and then welded a small bolt on the other end slid it thru the column shift bracket added a washer,nut and then drilled the nut and bolt for a cotter pin.
My trans shift arm was for a floor shift so it took a few tries at modifying the arm to get it to shift correctly (match the shift indicator on the column). Made sure P,R,N and drive were correct after that I'm not to concernd.
One other thing I had to add an additional return spring at the opposed end of the trans (so it pulled the lever towards the rear if I remember correctly)
You will need to have somebody with the pressure gauge and correct fitting to set the trans cable. If you don't do this right you will get to have the trans rebuild and from what I was told that can happen in a very short time.
