new tach
and installed it into my 93 f150. it plugged right in and work ok. but i noticed that the tach would jump 250-500 rpms on highway and then i noticed that my voltage gauge was below normal.i thought that the gauge may be off but then the lights went deem and then the truck died. i dont know if theres a short in new cluster or if there was something else? i have lifetime warr. on altnator so i replaced it but i still haveing this problem. please help.

Did you ever figure this out. There is a wiring change that took place somewhere between 92 and 96. The alternator wiring in the gauge clusters are different between some of the years. I've been searching for the fix (I believe just have to move one or two wires on the gauge cluster harness) with the search function on here but have been coming up empty.
Any luck,
John
