Accelleration touble
I put a rebuilt 390 from a 67 LTD into a 74 F100 that had a tired 360 in it. The 390 had sat a bit since the rebuild. After the swap I changed the leaking intake gasget, rebuilt the carburator, and changed the oil in the C6 tranny. Then I took it to a shop to have the idle, and choke and everything set up.
Anyway, its running pretty good, but sometimes, and I really notice it on ice, on slow accellerations right off the start it kinda feels like I'm driving a standard . Somethings dragging the motor down, like when you first let out the clutch. It almost seems like it would stall, and then it revs up to normal. I noticed the problem is worsened by colder weather. I don't know if this is related to the tranny, although that is what I suspect. One other question I have is that the truck tranny - C6 - has two vacuum lines comming off of it and the one out of the car had only one, what is the difference and where should they get their vacuum from? I also notice now since I changed the tranny oil I may have a bit too much, like about an inch on the dipstick. Could this be related?
Thanks for any help or recomendations!!
Sorry I wrote a book!!

When I used to drive on ice, I would start the transmission in second to avoid spinning the wheels. That is the detent below drive on most ford automatic transmissions. Once I was moving I would shift it back into drive.
I'll let someone with more experance answer your transmission questions - you could also post them in the transmission forum - there are more transmission experts there!
The final fix for me was increasing the size of the primary jets in the carb. I bumped them up by 4 sizes and now I have zero hesitation.
The truck is actually a pleasure to drive now.
