Aight heres the next problem when im towing my trailer and i make a turn(from a dead stop or a slow turn) i get this really wierd feeling out of the rear end like a grinding or something ? anyone know what that is ? its wierd and i want it to go away
heres the last problem. when going down the interstate at around 80 if i let off the throttle i get this wierd vibration throughout the whole truck ? if i do it at 70 i dont get this vibration ? anyone got some advice on this?
Well, to help you out on the first part, 5.4L takes 6 quarts, depending on where you live determines what weight oil and composition I feel you should put in it. If you live in the northern climes, I would use a synthetic 0W-30 because of the excellent cold flow characteristics. If you live where it's more temperate, just about any API SL 5W-30 would do.
The rear end grinding noise may be from the differential, don't know and I won't venture any further guesses.
I think six quarts will do it. I have been using 10-30. Did you ever grease the ball on your tow hitch? Vibrations could be alot of things like tire balance, bearings, drive shaft etc. Take it and have it checked out. Something might be going bad. Keep your speed down until you know for sure. Good luck with it.
The grinding is probably your Limited Slip (if you've got one). A fluid swap, along with the appropriate amount of friction modifier, should cure the chattering in those low speed turns.
