Thumbs up Two Questions, and Praise!

Hey Folks- Just an update on my (new to me) van, and a few questions.
('03 E-350, E31, Chateau, V10, 3.73LS, Quigley 4X4)
This thing is awsome. I love it more each day. Got nearly 6000 mi. since I got it in Aug., and for towing, hauling, and even serious offroading,it has exceeded my wildest expectations. Just got back from the mountains in W.Texas, and it went where even the Yota 4x4's couldn't. Approach and departure angeles, ground clearance, and power (V10), can not be matched! Towed a loaded trailer (7-8K) out, and have never had (or used) such a good tow vehicle. Well, enough bragging, as I believe I'm preaching to the choir.
Two questions.
Where do yall keep your spare tires?
I switched to 33's, and it won't fit underneath. My tape measure sez it's too big for the back door, as it would block the handle from ether side, and it just seems too big to hangout front.

Should the dome lights (when on from an open door) be on a timer to shut them off?
Mine stay on as long as a door is open, and when I'm working out of it, that could be all day. Not sure if I have a malfuntion, or if that's the way it should be.
Reguards, -Rob-

You could keep a smaller spare, and just use it for emergencies. I have a conversion van, and the spare is smaller than the wheels that are on it. Most cars today just have that p.o.s. donut spare...good for about 60 miles or so.

Just curious...aren't you worried about tipping over while doing that extreme 4 wheeling?

The dome lights SHOULD shut off after 20 minutes with the doors open. They may or may not have a timer on them for after you close the doors.

hello, nice ride you got there. you might get away with a smaller spare and bringing the full size with u i the trailer. i wouldn't tow with the wrong size tires. a local guy has a suburban with the spare on the roof. it looks cool but i dont know about how he does it. some parkways around here do not allow stuff on the roof. it gives u an excuse to have and use the roof ladder. u could leave the spare back at the trailer while your off roading(lighten the load or clearance issues) knowing you can get home on the proper tires.

also my last cargo "just" had dome lights. i changed them with two 3 pos. switch, off-dim-norm. aftermarket domes. if you cant find an easier fix you might want to go that way. gl.

That sounds like a neat van. I don't need the 4X4 but the rest of the package sounds just right.

I would use the standard spare and repair the larger tire as soon as possible.

The dome / reading lights do have a timer (mine goes off in eight minutes) but you can also turn them off manually by tilting them slightly, in the same maner that you would to turn them on, except not as far. You have to do it to each light individualy, but there are times when it is worth the effort.
