it's a piece of junk a waste of cast iron. a power robbing junk pile and on top of that it's only a 3 speed.

The C6 is a "Bullet proof" trans for the most part especialy if fluid is changed and a fat cooler is added. it does "soak" up some power though. As pointed out above it has no OD.
it can be performance built to be a down right monster too
I don't know the trans has any weakness other than no OD
If I had a truck to pull fat loads and haul tremendous wieght the C6 would be the auto I'd choose but I like manuals for pulling so till then

Awesome! It's bomb-proof and the parts are cheap and easy to find. Runs forever even with abuse. There may be no OD, so gas mileage and power may be worse, but compare that to an E4OD that costs 3 grand to fix and breaks again 3 months later. I have had two identical F-350s, both with 460 engines, one with a C6 and the other with an E4OD--I got raped on both trucks in regards to the gas mileage, 9 vs. 11 MPG I think. I prefer the stronger transmission and with the extra money saved in fixing other ones, I can put more band into the motor.
By the way anyone have an opinion on the best rebuild kits or service manuals for these things?
