Blown Intercooler

Dropped my '03 "X" off @ the dealer for what I thought was replacement, again, of the hose that comes of the turbo. I have lown a hole in it once before. That night the guy says the turbo is shot, 2+ weeks to get another. Two days later he calls and said that the hose going into the intercooler was, or might be bad. Next call is the the intercooler has blown up. He replaced the intercooler, retested the truck, and came up w/the PCM needing to be reprogrammed. I am going to pick it up tomorrow and will let you know how it runs. PS. The truck has 27K and has been towing a 4000 lb. boat, or a 30' toy hauler, loaded.

I have heard of many intercoolers blowing which makes me nervous while pulling a trailer on the road. They give no warning when they go.

I managed to rip the entire right end of the intercooler.....35 miles from nowhere...made it into the town...three hours, then they replaced it.

How comfortable are you with this diesel tech? Really think all those things went bad at one time. Possible but not probable in my estimation, unless you sucked something really big through the turbo.
