I drive a 1997 Ford F150 With a 4.6L V8 Engine. The truck runs great most of the time, but occasionally the truck will no longer accelerate, it will coast and maintain speed when it reaches about 15mph... Pushing the gas pedal will do nothing but rev the engine. It will eventually kick back in and accelerate. Sometimes the engine will cut off completely, but it will restart with no problems. I've replaced the Throttle Positioning Sensor, Fuel Pump, All Oxy Sensors, All Filters, and the ECC Power Relay. I took it to a mechanic and the diagnostic machine revealed nothing, but the mechanic was able to rule out the transmission and the possibility that the engine was not recieving enough fuel. He said that he thinks the problem is electrical but no gurantees... Any ideas?
Welcome to the forum.
Iwould suggest letting a dealer drive it with their scan tool. It will show realtime data and will be able to do more than to just look for stored codes.
you have done a lot of good things, i would look at the filter in the tranny. she maybe starting to plug up. the shift that are pointing out is right at the 1/2 shift. intermitting problems my favorite anyway, try to keep your hair in place.
Almost sounds like two seperate problems: One transmission related and one electrical. Check your battery ground (-) cable and make sure it's clean and snug, and trace it to the engine and fender/firewall, and make sure those connections are clean and snug as well.
