Possible ABS problem.....Plaeas take a look.........
I went out to start my Ranger(96'XL 2.3L) yesterday, ands it was dead. After jump starting it I let it run for about an hour and a half to try to recharge the battery. I then proceded to back it into the garage. Upon applying the brakes the engine shuttered the ABS light came on and then the engine died. I then tried to restart the engine but the battery was still dead. I jumped it again and after it was runnung i applied the brakes again, again the same thing happened...the engine shuttered, ABS light came on and then it died. I checked all fuses, both brake lights are working, I tested the BOO (Brake on/off switch) and it was good. I put a jumper between the conections for the boo switch and the truck did it's same routine...Shutter, ABS light, Stall.....any ideas to fix this would help.

Just curious, is your battery any good, if you have a crack plate inside the battery it won't hold a charge and act like an open circuit. The alternater dosen't function well under 800 rpms, so when you apply the brakes what little juice is in the system is drained, leaving no juice for the ingition system. Just a guess on my part.
