I am trying to bleed the brakes on my 1994 f-350 4x4 with rear ABS. I read where there is some sort of pin in the proportioning valve that in some manuals says has to be PULLED out and in some manuals has to be PUSHED in. Can someone advise as to properly bleed these brakes? also, is there an ABS unit that also needs bleeding? Thanks....
When I bled the brakes on my 1994 F250 4x4, I did the right rear wheel cylinder, then the left rear, then the RABS unit...in that order.
I think the pin is for older models, and on the F350 the pin is pushed in, pulled out on other models. The valve was between the front and rear brakes, and if one or the other side failed, the pressure would drop on one side and the valve would move, breaking a circuit path and turning on the "brake" light.
I did it in the order you mentioned and although the ABS light is on now, the pedal feels much better. I think if I dissconnect the battery for a few minutes the light should clear.....Mark
I would scan for ABS codes(I did a search on it and found the instructions). The ABS system light doesn't go out like the Check Engine Light when you disconnect the battery. You want your ABS to work up there with as much wintry weather asyou guys get. The red Brake light will come on if that sliding valve is not centered.
Yeah I guess....just seems funny the light didn't come on until AFTER I bled that module for the rear brakes (RABS?) under the driver's floorboard on the frame rail, but my buddy has a scan tool at his garage, just have to get there and see what's up. Thanks...Mark
