Recently in the past few weeks where it is starting to get cold in New England, my accelerator pedal has been sticking at startup on my '99 XLT. Strange thing is, once I start moving and thus step on the pedal it doesn't stick again until much later, the next day in some cases. There is no regularity as to when the issue occurs. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Try cleaning the throttle plate in the throttle body. It is probably gummed up. Use some foaming throttle plate cleaner or foaming carb cleaner like STP and let it sit and eat away the carbon.
