Could someone give me their opinion of this engine/model year please!!
I have found a used, private party-one owner, very very clean, 1995 XLT ExtCab 4.0L 5speed 2WD with 60,000miles. However, I've only had the 4cyl 2.3L. Am a little nervous because of my inexperience and lack of knowledge with the 4.0L.
I've had a 1989 2WD 2.3l 4cyl 5speed for the past 7 years and now have 194,000+ miles. I drive 60 miles/day for work and need to update. Would love to go new but lack of $$$$
Your response would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
I had a 94 4.0 and loved it. I pulled a boat with it also and it never gave me a moments trouble. I sold it to my son at 75,000 and he drove it up over a 100,000 with no problems. Reg oil changes , air filter and routine maintenance is the ticket.
I've got a '94 with 4.0L that I've owned since new. It now has 109000 miles and I've just changed the thermostat, the first non scheduled maintenence the truck has had. Oil changes at 3-4k intervals and it now uses ~ .5 quart between changes. I would buy another in a minute except I hope this one has another hundred thousand in it. By the way, my daily commute is 32 miles each way and I consistently average 22+ mpg.
My brother and my Dad share a '94 x-cab 4.0 Splash, both of them are terrible at maintaining vehicles. It now has 138,000 miles on it and the thermostat and belts are the only thing changed outside of their routine 9-10,000 mile oil changes. Good truck!!!
