05 Escape question
I am looking for info on my 05 ford escape. this is a 2 wheel drive 4 cyl. I would like to know what other drivers are getting for mileage on your escape. I have been having problems putting gas into it. the tank was replaced twice already, in the shop 4 times which now makes it an official lemon. The dealer is trying to tell me that 15 - 19 mpg is what this vehicle should be getting. I just heard from another owner would told me he gets 27. thanks for you help.

I don't have an 05 with the new/improved 4 cylinder but my 02 with the V6 is getting 24-25mpg (mostly highway). Heck, my 98 F150 with the small V8 got 17mpg. Even if you're driving in-town 100% you should at least get 19mpg.
This assumes you typically aren't turning 6k rpms going through the gears. Also, some of the northern US states switch to a "winter" blend of gas which can impact mpgs by 10%. I would expect 26/27 out of the 4-banger.

In my V6 4wd 05 Escape, the computer is telling me we are getting 19 mpg with mixed city/highway driving. Your 2wd 4cly Escape should easily be getting in the mid twenties with mixed city/highway driving. Unless you are stuck sitting in traffic gridlock 80% of the time, your mileage is definitely too low. Good luck ironing things out with your Escape -- I would think the 4cyl/2wd would be a fun and practical ride that would give you good mileage.
