97 guage cluster ?

97 guage cluster ?
My truck is an XL and I would really like to add a factory cluster w/ tach. I found one on ebay but it says it is for post 7/15/96. My truck was built 6/96. Does anybody know what the difference is?

my 97 XL has no tach, and I would like to replace it, Iv herd all I need to do is conect a sensor already in the cluster? But what about losing the milage on my odo? is there a way to get it back? if not, Im thinking its almost better to stick an aftermarket one on my dash?

It may be better if your worried about milage b/c nobody will adj the odometer. If I do get a new cluster, I'm going to document the milage dif w/ photos. I REALLY want a factory cluster but if I can't figure out what the dif is I guess I'll get one of those add on pods that goes on the steering column. I don't really like the A pillar pods.

Im pretty sure the odometer reading are saved in the computer. So if you change the cluster it should still show the same reading. You cant change clusters to get lower milage like in the old days.
