power door locks
I bought a used 2000 f150. Both doors will not open from the remote or pushbutton most of the time. Every once in a while they work fine. both doors lock remotely just fine. The door locks attempt to unlock but only move part way. Could it be that both solenoids are weak or is there a common connection that may be loose?

It's a common problem with these trucks. The door lock actuators from the factory were apparently junk. You might luck out and get away with cleaning and lubing, but if you're like me you'll be replacing them. I've found them online for about $42.00 each. The price isn't too bad, but from what I've been told they're a pain to remove and re-install. If you're tempted to go the salvage yard direction, don't. You'll end up with the same problem down the road and have to do it all over again. Hope this helps.
