rocker arm help

I'm going to use the 941 Crane cam. The ex lift is 563 and the spring press with the valve open is 286. To safely run roller rockers can I get away with just using good end stands with stock supports? I'm trying to see what I must use to be safe but don't want to overkill. Engine should run easily to 5000 but don't plan to push it past there much.

Stock stands with better shafts (the good ones) or end stands and stock shafts your choice. Or even better both good stands (end and center) and HD shafts. You can also slot the aluminum stands like the old HP iron stands and run a HD shaft. This is what I've done in the past for combo's up to .600 lift. The slotting trick I learned from an old FE guy from the day. I'd feel safer with both if you going upwards of 6000 rpm though. I'm not a real big fan of the OEM aluminum stands and that was always in the back of my mind at 6500. I like the old iron stands with HD shafts but that's me. With rollers you want to keep everything pretty solid though and I don't think that end stands and good shafts are overkill by any means. Just good insurance. A little more now will save you much later. And if you feel you want an even bigger cam someday the upgrade is done and you won't be double spending and replacing them down the road. JMO, G.

With the 941 cam you're not going to gain anything above about 5500rpm, so you should still be pretty safe.

I run the 941 cam. When I put mine together, I used stock aluminum stands, HD shafts and the standard iron adjustable rockers. So far so good!

On that note, I really like the 941 cam. Plenty of oomph down low combined with a boatload of high rpm punch. Just enough of a lope to tell it's not stock. It's great.
