my 77 pickup

how u guys doing i was just hoping on talking to someone who has a good general knowledge of engines and gearing on my truck....... So here goes i have a 1988 300 fuel injected straight 6 in it and 3.50 gear ratio in the rear with 35/12.5 tires and need a little more oomph through 3rd and 4th gear i know i need a new exhaust i want a stainless 1 also was thinking of headers but ive been told the 88 4.9 has a 3 into 1 manifold which is almost just as good as headers and am wondering if this is true. i have good 8mm accel wires good bosch plat plugs knn filter and stock other than those things i want about 25 more hp or such but i know very little about engines but ,can read directions fairly well so im thinking of just bolt on accesorys mostly..... Also im wondering if a new msd ignition and high performance coil would be a good way to go. If so how much money am i looking at and which system should i get. (im rly struggling for specifics here for you gear heads but any help is well appreciated. t/y for advice and opinions ahead of time) Also forgot but im working with a limited budget( thinking no more than 1k) cheap is good as long as its still quality stuff .

Gears Gears Gears the best thing i ever did
big exhaust kills torque on stock engines, accel wires are lame
MSD is not important, ford fuelies have good reliable stock ignition and sixes dont rev high enough to need it

4.10 gears, k&n, 2.5" exhaust, ford plugs you'll love it

4.56 gears with a v8 yes, but not a street driven six you'll run out of motor too fast!
