Check Engine Light
Does anybody know if a CEL can be disconnected on a 97?
Teachers in school used to say a #80 drill bit should do the trick, right through the light bulb....

I don't know if you are being serious or not. So I have 2 answers for you.
1. If you are serious, why would you want to do such a thing, and
2. I think electrical tape would be sufficient.
