Anybody using Hypertech module on their trucks? Do they work?
Website says optimizes wide open throttle, is that the only thing that is changed? Does this effect all rpm ranges?
I had one on my 89 but decided to get rid of it because I was having to burn higher octane gas regardless of the timing and it just didn't seem justified. However, when pulling my boat or other trailors, things did seem to shift quiet a bit better. I guess that overall, if you have the $$$ for gas and maybe set your timing right on the money and even change you plug gap and upgrade your ignition, it may be worth it. In a brick of a vehicle like the Bronco, there doesn't really seem to be much to really enhance the ranges. If you wanted that, get a pickup or a car.
Good luck and hope this helps. I am sure others will chime in and give you some more info.
if your looking for a decent boost, get some headers and your exhaust redone. its a good starting point and the stock system is very restrictive. do this an you will pay about the same maybe a little more but well worth it. any chip really isnt good unless its working with other mods on an engine. dont work to well on something stock
I got BBK throttle body headers and cat-back bassani, I will install exhaust and TB after I get The y-pipe from Bassani. I believe those upgrades are probably the most bang for the buck.
I am currently replacing ball joints rotors and all those other frontend parts that wear out after 125k. So the rest of the exhaust is on hold.
I was wonderin about the chip but it doesn't seem like I need it.
I had planned on uprading to Mass Air and GT-40 intake setup but decided to keep it simple, and I made a good profit on the lightning Mass air conversion.
Still got the gt-40 intake and TB to sell.
More torque is better.

is it the tubular gt40? i would love to run one of those inplace of my stock 5.8 intake. but aint got enough coin. unless you wanted to trade , i have a efi 302 and stock 8.8 rear end
It is the tubular GT-40 from a Lightning w 65mm TB, 302 would need lower intake for 302 like Cobra R mustang. Early upper gt-40 intakes are the same the cast ones came on the later explorers and other 302s.
I will probably list the whole setup on Ebay soon to pay for the Bassani y-pipe. I spent a little over $500, for the intake setup, Hopefully I can get my money out of it.
??? wait a sec are you runnin a 302 w 5.8 intake or a 302?.
Is their a difference between intakes 302 vs 351 on the trucks. I know the 351 has 5.8 fuel injection or something Cast int the top but aren't they the same other than that.

the only dif between the 5.0 and 5.8 intakes are the port shapes. the 5.8 has oval...not if ur mechanicly inclined and have access to a mill. u portmatch the 302 upper to the 351 lower = alot better flow. but if u get the edlebrok setup then u dont have to spend the time instead u spend the coin
I had a hypertech module on my 93. I ultimatley sold it due to the gas prices. But when it was on the differences i noticed where a better shift, more passing power and it seemed to get up to speed a little easier.
