Tailgate window gear
I have to replace my tailgate window gear(plastic). I was just wondering if anyone has done this beofre and if so any tricks and time ect..? Any feedback would be great.

Once you get you window motor apart, there is a metal gear inside of the nylon gear. I've replaced the 3 bushings that tie them together on 2 separate assemblies. I was a little smarter on the second. I found in the "help" section of the auto parts store the replacement bushings. They were less than $5. Not bad since the replacement gears were $20. I like that "help" section...many good common replacement items there.

The nylon gear slips over the back of the steel gear that drives the regulator. The three nylon bushings fit into the back of the nylon gear and the nylon gear fits over a triangular cam on the back side of the steel gear. The bushings create the triangular slot for the cam to slide into.
