According to autoextremistdotcom, there will be BIG sales (at least for GM) starting this coming Friday. Here's a quote....
"GM will unleash a massive new December sales event beginning this Friday aimed at reducing inventories of 2004 and 2005 models in a big way......The discounts are as much as $2500 more than the ones already in place for those who choose to finance or lease through GMAC."
For those of us ready to buy a new vehicle (mine's on order) it would be great if Ford came on board with something similar.
They have to discount them because they are sitting on car lots throughout America - no one wants that stuff.
Just look at what GM has done to the Hummer 2 this past month - huge discounts.
Last I heard GM was overstocked or over produced by 3 months.
If the dealer here is an example. I doubt it. The local dealer here can't keep the 05 SD's on the lot. They still have numerous 04 SD extended cabs on the lot and can't get rid of them as people want the 05's and 90% of the 05's are PSD's. I think the $1000 rebate on the SD is the best you will see.

Oh, you mean like that incredible "Lock & Roll" deal that GM offered? The one where only FIVE PERCENT of the people that bought GM vehicles in November took advantage of? The "discounts are as much as $2500 more than the ones already in place" are merely dealer discounts from MSRP. GM is pretty much forcing their dealers to put their lowest discounted price on the windshield thru the use of a red tag. From what I can see, there are no bigger rebates coming from GM on this, it's all coming out of the dealer's pocket. No one can sell hype quite like GM- do yourself a favor and ignore it.
Jeff....I'm a long time Anti-GM guy....so I really don't take much credence in what GM says or does. The latest recall of H2s because the wheels fall off only proves what GM is. (Look at the joke the "new" GTO is.) I really like when H2 owners talk about their Hummers....then they realize that it's a Tahoe underneath.
The info above is not mine, merely a quote from a website that is on the ball when it comes to the auto biz.
I have been in auto advertising for over 20 years. Ford may have to step up and raise rebate because the public "perceives" value by GM upping the ante. They may need to follow suit in order to get traffic.
As far as '05 inventory...there's no shortage around the Philly area of SDs.
I have been following the 05 SD inventories in the Boston, MA area. The lot trucks are not flying off the lots. In my area you do not see many new 05's on the road.

I know that, and I didn't mean for it to come off as directed at you. I was speaking more rhetorically than anything else. I was just amazed at what a dismal failure the "Lock & Roll" promotion was.
