Im Not sure it is the ebp sensor or not, but if anyone could let me know what some of the symtoms of a bad sensor is, it would be greatly appreciated .

when that valve activates you can really hear it and you can see the linkage moving, its operated by the temp sensor in the intake and the engine temp

The back pressure sensor throws a check engine light. It also defuels the system just like an over boost situation. If you look at your passenger side exhaust manifold, you'll see a little tube going up to the front of the engine. At the end of that is the EBP sensor. Four engine run cycles should clear the light.

Wouldn't it be easier if you told us the symptoms you are having?

Good point cookie.
One trick with the EBP sensor, if you replace it or just to clean it up, blow air back through the line, all that soot in the small line can clog it up and affect the reading of the sensor. Blowing air back through it, in theory, will clean it out and just blow it back into the exhaust. The way I understand it from what the tranny guy at the Ford dealer told me, the EBP sensor is used to determine when the auto tranny shifts, it senses the load, or amount of back pressure, and will adjust your shifts accordingly.
