Hey guys,
I'm fixing up the interior of our project 64 cc, I have looked and looked for a dash insert for this truck that I can put an electric speedo set-up in, and I have had no luck.I would like to put all new gauges in at the same time,so if anyone knows of such a insert that would house all new gauges ,please let me know.
Thanks, GPA
If you have the inclination, it's pretty easy to make your own inserts and then put in whatever you want.
Good luck, Phil
Look here and see what I mean:
I painted it with wrinkle paint after deciding I didn't want polished alum on the dash. But that would be easy to do too.
Yeah I know. That truck has been apart and setting SO long it's anxious to get started!!
Actually, I think it's because it's an electric tach and the needle wanders a bit when it's layed over like that. (it seems to work ok though)

Sam_Fear, thanks for the compliment. The gauges work fine. I had to install a rheostat to the lights in the gauges to match them to the rest of the dash lights. It took me a while to find the tach that fits there on the steering column bracket. Unfortunately, it only works on 61-64, as they changed the column bracket in 65.
How did you get the URL to work? I copied it from the address bar while looking at the photo, but it would not work. The URL you posted does work. What is the trick?
Here is what I did with my dash. I cut the back out and cut a piece of diamond plate aluminum to fit ove it. I then used adhesive Bondo to glue it in there and fill in the gaps. I got a set of hot rod guages from VDO and put them in there. Not a great job, but the first time I fabricated anything. Since this pic, I have added high beam, alternator, and turn signal indicators. Recently I have also added front lit blue led lights to light the panel up blue, like my truck.
In an earlier post, JB Micro Finish was mentioned and their web address was provided. I am now ready to by an insert but the web site seems to have gone away. Does anyone know if they are out of business or have a new address?
Phil, I just read your post on 12-08 and looked at the picture of your instrument panel. I'am curious about the red object at the bottom of the speedometer. Is that a light sourse for illuminating the speedometer. If it is could you tell me what you used to do that with. I'am having trouble seeing mine at night and have been trying to figure something out to be able to see it better. Thanks James Northen
