VIN # help on Rangers
I'm looking to purchase a late model Ranger that will let me haul sheets of drywall and plywood. The super/extended cabs don't have a bed long enough. The stepside styles cut off too much width. Does anyone know what part of the VIN # will match up with the different parts of the truck, or a URL that will provide me that key? It's not hard to get a VIN # from an internet site, but reading it's another thing.

Sounds like you are looking for the long box. 7' and with the tail gate down, you can carry 4x8 stuff. The rear wheel wells are closer together then 4', but the owners manual says to cut a couple 2x6's to lay across the bed in the pockets that let 4x8 sheets rest on the 2x6 in front and back and on the wheel wells in the center. Wheel bases are about 112 for regular cab 6' box, 118 for regular cab 7' box and 126 for supercab 6' box. You want 118".
