Help me fine\replace thermostat

Hello again,

I want to replace the thermostat for my 1996 7.3 PSD. Not sure where it is, and my search of the 145 links at this site did not reveal its location.

Can anyone give me an idea of where to look, and the complexity of the replacement. I have a new thermostat, and a gasket - now just need to figure out how to get it in place.

It LOOKS like the big hose at the top right (driver side) of the radiator leads to what may be the home of the thermostat. Held in place by at least 4 small bolts\screws. Other than that - I'm clueless.

Thanks for your help.

JC

You ain't clueless, you've found it. On top of the water pump, there's a neck that sticks straight up. On mine, it's three screws, and you're in!

You might also look really closely at the neck and see if it's corroded to the point it needs to be replaced. And be careful with it - even a brand new one is kind of fragile and doesn't take well to being pulled to the side hard while getting the hose on and off. (Does someone make a billet replacement for that yet?)
